Student Camping Trips

Overnight camping trips are a gratifying way for students to apply fresh skills and meet new challenges. During these trips, students learn self-sufficiency, gain self-confidence, and discover the value of shared experiences. Often, teachers and therapists join the students and adventure team on overnight trips, gaining valuable insight into a student’s progress and growth. Students often make breakthroughs and overcome feelings of self-doubt on extended outdoor excursions and return to campus renewed and hopeful. Through unique experiential therapeutic camping and adventure therapy opportunities, students leave Solstice East with healthy, life-long interests and skills, and unforgettable memories.

Some of our overnight adventures have included:

  • Rock climbing at Pilot Mountain State Park
  • Mountain Biking at Congaree National Park
  • Multi-day Paddleboarding on the French Broad River
  • Stand-up Paddleboarding / Mountain Biking at Lake James State Park
  • Whitewater Kayaking on the Tuckasegee River

Family Camping Trips

Solstice East offers opportunities throughout the year for families to join their teens on adventure-based camping trips led by our own Adventure Therapy Department. We offer local trips led by outdoor professionals and staff as well as week-long expeditions. These multi-day trips are a wonderful opportunity for parents and guardians to connect with their child, practice skills learned in family therapy, explore breathtaking natural sights around the country, and create unforgettable lasting memories.
