Kelly brings a wealth of counseling experience to her role as a therapist here at Solstice East. Born and raised in Illinois, Kelly began her early career in mental health as a special needs adoption case manager and counselor, who assessed, educated and supported prospective parents through the adoption of children who’d experienced abuse, neglect and trauma. In the ten years prior to joining Solstice, she served as an individual and family therapist for children and adolescents needing support while also leading social skills groups for kids with ADHD, ASD and other behavioral concerns. Kelly honed her skills as an intensive in-home counselor for at-risk families with members experiencing suicidal or homicidal ideations. Kelly is trained in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and is a practitioner in trust-based relational intervention (TBRI), which is an attachment-based and trauma-informed approach designed to meet the complex needs of vulnerable populations. Kelly is passionate about helping out students and their families to heal and grow during their time at Solstice East. In her down time, Kelly enjoys reading, hiking, fitness, playing with her dogs and spending time with friends and family, including her husband and three children.
